In Part 1, I shared a little about how Healthy Busy Mom got started. Today I want to go a little deeper, because there’s the short answer, and then there’s the real answer.
The short answer
If you want the surface-level reason I started this blog, here it is: I needed an outlet.
Potty training our twins has been one of the longest, most drawn-out seasons of my mom life. It’s taken so much longer than I ever expected, and just when I thought we were turning a corner, we found ourselves dealing with chronic constipation. We’ve been walking through that for over a year now.
Some days it feels like it’s all I think about. The worrying, the trying, the starting over. I needed something that was mine, something creative that filled me back up instead of draining me. So I started cooking, writing, and sharing, and Healthy Busy Mom was born.
But if I’m being honest, that’s only part of the story.
The real reason
When I dig deeper, Healthy Busy Mom is really about serving others, furthering God’s Kingdom, and sharing the Gospel.
In John 13, Jesus kneels down and washes His disciples’ feet. The Lord of all creation took on the job of a servant. Then He told them, “If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet” (John 13:14, ESV).
If Jesus was willing to humble Himself and serve, I want to do the same. No act of love is too small, even something as ordinary as helping you figure out what’s for dinner.
What I hope you find here
I want this to be a place of light. When you land here, I hope you leave encouraged and uplifted.
I know what it feels like to hit 5 o’clock overwhelmed and burnt out, with no energy left to make one more decision. That’s exactly who I’m cooking for. I want to give you easy, quick dinners that take one thing off your plate, so you can spend a little less time stressing over the stove and a little more time with the people you love.

And I hope it goes beyond your own kitchen. I want these recipes to give you the confidence to open your door and invite people in. Make a simple dinner. Bake a yummy dessert. Pull some chairs around the fire pit out back and let the conversation turn to what really matters. Some of the sweetest fellowship happens over a shared meal, and some of the most important conversations about Jesus happen around a table or a fire with people you love.
That’s the heart behind Healthy Busy Mom. Good food, made simple, so we have more room for what matters most.
